I am not a carer either - nor do I need one. However, I have a relative who is a 24x7 carer for a dementia sufferer.
To all carers out there - WELL DONE! Keep up the good work.

Hi I look after my husband when he needs it, but he is very good at looking after himself most of the time, he has an incomplete spinal cord injury at level C5/6. His cord is flattened on the left side and the more pain he is in, the discs surrounding the cord become inflammed and press on the cord, which in turn causes a lack of sensation in many different forms as well as confused messages.
So hello to everyone who helps look after or is related to a person with a spinal cord injury.

Hiya
I usually post on the General Board but should probably be on here. My hubby, Nico, suffered sci August 05 following a crash on a motorbike. He is C6 complete.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi,
I take care of my son when he needs it, he has a T9, T10 SCI since may 29th, almost a year now. Small improvements at a time and alot of slipping back. This is a great place to come to chat.

Hi everyone,
welcome cat,
I am on the other side who receives care from two wonderful ladies, Pam & Traci on a 7 day rota 24/7. without them my life at times would be very difficult, before i got Direct care package and ILF my world was hard. Thanks to someone who comes on this site they helped me get help.
So from someone who receives care to all you wonderful people out there that gives care, a very Big thank you to you all. I know some of us in receipt of care get grumpy and are hard to deal with at times, but we DO appreciate everything you do for us.
Bye snowdrop

Hi All! My name is Hope Brookes I am 21 and I live in Manchester in England and I am here because my bestfrend who I have been friends with since I was a child has been a T8 for about a year and a half now, she was in hospital for almost a year and had 3 months of bed rest, but I pretty much am there with her all the time. She doesn't really talk to me anymore, she isn't the same person but no matter what I will always be there for her, I don't know much on spinal injury so I need alot of advice lol X [Hope Brookes] X

Hi Hope, Good on you for sticking with your friend. Shes gone through hell in the last year and a half and even though she has changed a bit she still needs you! Shes got a lot more to go through yet!
We all started out not knowing much about spinal injury here but some of us learned in a hell of a hurry! Just like you and your friend. If you need any help or advice just ask. Thats what we are here for.

Hi Hope & everyone!
I'm in East Yorkshire, we're almost neighbours ha ha!!! I think it's absolutely great that you're still there for your friend. Things have changed massively for her but I know it will be a great comfort to her to know that you are still her friend and feel the same towards her, dispite the physical changes. My hubby had his accident in 2005 and we hadn't been married even a year at that point, but thankfully we're still as mad, happy, stupid and in love as we were before!
Good on you
xX Cat Xx

I met my girlfriend after a c3 to c7 injury as a result of a freak accident. She puts up with the anger and depression. She knew the situation and jumped in anyway. I am sso thankful for her.
