Do you drive? If so...what do you drive and how? On the news here a little while ago, there was a piece about a guy who got caught speeding. He also had no drivers liscence!! He also had no arms.....Im not quite sure how he did it but he drove with his feet!!!! Apparently he had been driving for years and finally got caught!!

I no longer drive, so the only place I drive at the moment is up the wall when my daughter's playing up! We do have a car though, it's a Renault Laguna 2.0 Turbo. Simon.

Most of those european cars aren't available in nz purely because our petrol isn't refined enough for their engines. We use japanese cars, the sorts that the guys on Top Gear loathe.

I totally rebelled against Kangoo's and Berlingo's - my mate who works in a garage says they are vans with windows.
So, I chose a smart new 2006 Ford Focus. Being a para I need no hoist. I just have a chair that I can manhandle into the car and place beside me in the passenger side. Or, if someone is in the car then it goes behind my seat.

I've always dreamed of winning the lottery and getting a nice low slung ferrari or similar with a suspension raising kit on it so I could get in and out easier ...... man that would be awesome, and a cool sight... Ferrari's already turn heads but imagine pulling into a parking lot (right up front of course) and seeing all the heads turn as you pull a chair out of it. You would have to have your chair custom painted to match the car. that is a must! Andy please win the lottery... i want pictures!

I call my "black grumps" the "black shadow." He lurks in the background and when I am not looking up he comes, right over my shoulder and down my front. I tell you, the looks I get from some people when I say I am just shrugging off the black shadow. I think they are of the view I am Superhero on disguise. I smell a fire on Krypton so must fly.

I don't think I necessarily get grumpy as such...I tend to withdraw and not have anything to do with anyone. I can spend days at a time on the internet and not have any contact with the outside world.

I know the feeling. I find that some days I spend so much time on here I have hardly any human contact. However, this is much more fun.

I can wait...in a way I was only being silly when I asked you for his car. Lol, I'm kinda going thru driving withdrawl and some might argue that that's good for me. I know what you mean in regards to ACC, I've kinda given up on them, I'm "trying" to save money for my dream wheelchair because ACC don't want to pay for it. In a way it's funny, if you read on ACC's website all the equipment they provide you still remains their property. If by some miracle I got a cure and started walking, technically ACC would take my wheelchair back cuz it belongs to them.

Accident Compensation Corporation it's the people that give you compensation if you have an accident, particularly in the work place. They aren't too trustworthy, there have been stories on the news about elderly people having to sell their homes because ACC decided they wanted the money back. I'm still lucky I guess that it was an accident and not a degenerative problem. It's almost impossible to get the equipment you need if your a para because of a degenerative problem, ACC and the government don't cover that.

I know a lady who has had both legs amputated, and has extremely impaired vision because of diabetes - she gets no help at all. Shes one that Im a bit worried about actually as shes not accepting it at all, wont do anything for herself and is extremely depressed! Her hubby is out at work all day every day and she just sits at home by herself. My guy keeps in touch with her as much as he can. Im not actually too popular with her husband as he is one of my ex-boyfriends best friends - he is REALLY awkward when in my company so I feel I like I should stay away.

Don't know what the UK equivalent of ACC is. No doubt someone will.
I think "acceptance" is different to everyone. As already said, after 18 years I will NEVER accept what happened. I resent the fact that one train journey I took to meet my wife caused such mayhem and ruined my career. It did not do much for the marriage either (LOL).
I go on as best I can and try not to let it eat into me. It aint easy but then nothing in life is - I still had problems when an AB. So, I just find ways round them.
