When I packed up, I did it without any patches sprays etc, apparently after 3 days the body/brain no longer craves nicotine its then just down to willpower ...... good luck Jilly.

3 days you say...hmm..I can do that! As for the habit...I will have to take up something else like chewing my fingernails or something!! Lol!
All the good literature on the subject says to decide on a day to stop....Looks like its Monday... I doubt if I could get through the weekend at home AND  stop smoking...Im better off to do it when Im at work most of the day - and cant smoke except on my breaks.

So....the countdown has begun!!!

We should all be allowed to make the choices that we want. Instead of slapping bans on everything.

Well I gave up 25yrs ago with my wife which helped a lot to have someone to 'compete' & keep me going. For the first 6 months it was really hard & I used to look at people after dinner when out etc & could almost taste them the craving was that bad but after a year or so we never looked back & to this day haven't.

I still like a few drinks though

I have tried before as well...I dont get much positive support though...all I get is nagging which kind of puts you off the idea of bothering. It is one of those things that you have to do for YOURSELF not because everyone else says you should.

Like all vices they are hard to break. I wish bad habits were easy to get rid of.

The other motivator for me was I used to get a bad chest (slight asthma & bronchitus) especially bad at Xmas etc from smoking twice as much so I had a health reason which helps a lot especially if you don't wanna give up coz you like it:-)

Mind you the cost of em now is a good enough reason.

Lol! My father died of smoking related illnesses and I dont want to do the same.

Ok..it seems that I am stopping smoking a little earlier than anticipated! For the simple reason that I have run out of smokes!! not much point in buying more at this stage so I am having my last one RIGHT NOW!! so here goes!!

Its another good idea to empty an ashtray into a glass of water and leave it somewhere prominent around your house, it will look and smell disgusting and hopefully keep you focused too  angel
