Hi

My name is Tiffany. On August 9th my husband was in an accident and broke his neck. He is a C5-C6 incomplete. I am really new to all of this and have soo many questions. The day that the accident happened we were all very confused because the first doctor initially told us that he completley severed his spinal cord and would never walk again. Which was a shock to us since he never lost feeling anywhere. Of course that was wrong. But he has been in a Rehab Center now for three weeks and to me is making really good progress. He is trying to sit up, they have already put him in a push wheelchair, he doesnt use it long but it will take time. Also he has been having alot of spasms going through his legs. All the doctors say that that is good, but I a not sure what to think. My hope is that he will have enough strength to be able to transfer himself from a wheelchair the the couch or something. Also, will he ever be able to use the bathroom, instead of wearing a depends. Will we ever be able to sleep in the same bed together.

Hi Tiffany, welcome to the forum, hope you find         some help here.  It is early days so things could improve a lot.  everyone is different. my daughter is C5-6, she is a walker     she has metal rods in the neck and bone taken from the hip.      her spinal cord is flattened and will not regenerate so that has left the nerves in a state,   also has Brown Sequard Syndrome.  if you look back on the forum you will find a lot of stories here.
My daughter is able to work and drive and lives on her own. she uses crutches, so do not dispond to  much.
