Amy I think your news is sounding good, and  they seemed to have found your nerve damage in time,  that did not happen with my daughter so no return there, it was some years before sorted out, so I think you have a lot to hope for, but do be patient and keep working at it,
Jilly  understand where you are coming from being childless, I found it hard when they eventually went, and is lovely now when they come to visit, best of both worlds that way, but the empty nest takes some getting used to at first, but you will relax and enjoy.  You may even get round to doing more painting etc.

Hi everyone!!!
Sorry I havent been here for ages but I think Ive been busyier since my girls have moved out than I was before! Lol!

Cate my painting is coming ahead in leaps and bounds. I have two comissions Im working on, and have 3 exhibitions coming up.

Im still working night shift at the resthome Ive been working in for the last 8 months or so, and still hating it! Lol!

Ive just taken on a new (old) job, Ive gone back to the hospital I used to work at a couple of years ago as an on call/ casual worker. So I have two jobs now! Eventually I will leave the job where I am working night shift and work at my old hospital. Apparently it wont be long until I get on a perminant DAY shift there, one of the other workers is pregnant!

My girls are doing well by the way. My oldest is at University and loving it and my youngest is doing a graphic design/media course and loving it too but is very homesick. They have both moved half way across the country so its not easy for them to pop home for the weekend. I miss them of course but Im loving the peace and quiet! Lol!

Amy... good news about you getting back to work soon! Yay!

Hi Cate...Hi Jilly...HI everyone!!!!

Thanks for asking Cate.  I'm doing really great.  I have regained almost normal sensation from my ribcage to my mid thighs.  I still don't have normal sensation from my mid thighs down and am still working with balance issues BUT I am able to walk really well and I know this will sound stupid to everyone here but, I bought a pair of Sketcher Shape up shoes.  They are amazing.  They force me to walk properly with  good posture which has basically eliminated my back pain. I do have muscle spasms in my back but with heat and a little Flexiril I do well.  The neurologist said that it's a great sign that I have regained as much feeling as I have and that he expects that ulitmately I will regain all of it, eliminating my balance issues as well.  I plan on returning to work full duty by the end of April as my limitations seem only to be sensation and not functional....watch out criminals.....Amy's almost back and ready to crush crime!!!!!!!!

Again...I must thank all of you so very much for your advice, kindness and compassion. I truly love all of you even though we've never met and I only wish the best for everyone here.
Much love and admiration,

Amy

Good news Amy, glad we have given you  some support on your journey.   No not stupid about the shoes very important.  My daughter tried the MBH. which are the shoes developed by the Masai warriors walk,  but they do not just sell these to you they fit and watch yhou walk  and also on tread mill, to make sure they are suitable for you.   My daughter was not ready for them, but she has managed without,  has a shoe fetish anyway  so many ha ha/  It was her physio that suggested them to her, she wears them herself.
Jillty I can see you cannot have much time, but good luck with exhibitions.

im sorry for using this part of forum but I have just registered and can't find the way how to start with new topic.
Ok, so on the 10.03 i have had an accident some idiot reversing his car against traffic and struck me directly into my back causing my symptoms  on my tspine .  Most days recently, from my accident I've lost sensation and strengh on both of my legs. I've had sensations like I'm being electrocuted...almost constantly, a lot of weekness, balance problems and muscle spasms.  But there are some days I feel stronger than others. Within the MRI doctors saying that apart from dehydrated disc there is nothing what might cause the problems and symptoms. Can anyone ,help me and tell me what to do next?  Thanks, I appreciate all of this and all of you.

Chris

Hi Chris...first of all, I'm sorry to hear about your accident.  I fell into an 8 foot deep trench and fractured my back at  t6, 7.  It happened this past August.  I had and still have a lot of the symptoms you are talking about.  Everyone is different and everyone's journey is a bit of a challenge.  I am doing very well considering it's only been 7 months.  I didn't need surgery. I've been going to physical therapy 3 times a week and working my rear end off.  Initially, I had limited or heightened sensation from my ribcage down, and a lot of weakness.  I also had some pretty weird balance issues.  I have regained normal sensation from my ribcage to my mid thighs, but it's pretty much the same from mid thighs down.  I am able to walk, even run some and they think that ultimately the rest of the normal sensation will return.  This is a great site for you...everyone here is AWESOME...very supportitve and there are no stupid questions.  Like I said, everyone's issues are different and I hope the very best for you.  Keep fighting, keep a positive attitude and be patient (I know it's so tough to do)  You should navigate your way around the message boards here....there is a lot of good information.  I wish you the very best in your recovery.
