Hi,

I was not sure whether I am included as a SCI, but having read through posts on this site, I suppose I would be classed as "incomplete non traumatic."  My name is Alison, I am 42 years old and married with 2 children.

I really feel quite lost with my diagnosis as I have had very little intervention from my doctor or a neurologist since I left hospital in November 2007.  I was given Baclofen to help with the stiffness in my legs on leaving hospital, which my GP was keen to wean me off fairly quickly. Baclofen gave me panic attacks and I have never tried anything else for the stiffness in my legs and back.  I have not taken any medication since about January 2008.  I can walk and drive a normal car but use a walking stick as my gait is unsteady and I have weak legs.  I have had private physio for about 6 months and now have one to one training in a gym to try and improve the strength in my legs.

I feel very lucky that I am as mobile as I am, but do wonder if I should be asking for medication or treatment to help with the stiffness in my joints and muscles.  I don't have nerve pain or any numbness or tingling, but my muscles do feel sore most of the time, especially in the morning.

I just wonderd whether anyone has any suggestions.

hi ally

welcome to you Smiley sounds like the effects you are suffering are neurological, baclofen is a muscle relaxant normally used to help unwanted spasms etc, I'm sure there must be other meds to help your particular situation, perhaps your gp may refer you to your local pain clinic as a startpoint
