Hello and Happy New Year.. My name is Angela. I am 41, single and the mother of two. In March 2009, I fell on black ice while on a business trip. I landed squarely on my knees like a pile driver. A coworker helped me to get up and went on into the building. Within minutes of sitting, the pain and stiffness set into my neck, arms, back, shoulders, legs, etc. I was examined and treated at a clinic and returned to work with instructions to follow up with my doctor once I returned to my home town. I was evaluated by my doctor and then returned to work but with restricted duty of reduced sitting. I was told that my symptoms would probably last for two weeks. When they did not pass, I returned to the doctor and was placed on full duty.
Since March 2009, I have been to over 100 medical appointments, four different physical therapists, three neurosurgeons, one osteopath, and a pain management doctor. I have had two series of cortisone injections (three each time) in my spine, a round of gabapentin for pain but I had to quit because of facial spasms and headache. My MRIs revealed either two fractured vertebrae (t5 and t6) or a degenerative condition. However, on a subsequent bone scan, neither showed.
It has been almost 10 months, although masked by medication, my symptoms persist. The symptoms include chronic pain from my neck down, numbness and tingling from my breast down in front and back, muscle spasms throughout my back, sharp radiating pain from my back to my ribcage, the muscles in my ribs spasm significantly and my head hurts from the crown of my skull down. The last two symptoms didnt start until three months after the accident. I think I crushed my spine in the accident, suffered broken vertebrae, and have been misdiagnosed. Can you recommend a doctor or treatment center that can help to diagnose and treat me, PLEASE!
