I have a friend who I have recently discovered has been paralyzed from a recent auto accident. The person who told me didn't have alto of information but said our friend would be unable to walk. I want to call but am afraid I may say the wrong thing. Can anyone give me some advice on the call I am going to make. My friend is married and in his late thirties with two teen boys. Thank you for your help, Dan

As they say in Scotland "Ca canny" meaning go gently. Keep conversation on a general level and don't ask about the accident. Let huim lead the conversation. I can remember the early days of my accident and even now I find talking about some aspects of both my accidents painful.

Hi Dan, and welcome. Gerry is  right in handling the call.  I would also just say it will be hard to begin with, but the call  would be appreciated, as so many people lose touch, as friends say they did not know how to communicate, but any contact is important. best wishes
