Hello,

I am posting as a member of a group of Medical Students at Imperial College, London. We are conducting a research project regarding stem cells and their use in treating a number of medical conditions abroad including spinal cord injury. A number of patients from the UK travel abroad for stem cell therapies every year, as these have not yet been approved in the UK. We would like to hear your opinions about 'Stem Cell tourism'.

Our aim is to look into how informed patients are about these overseas treatments with a view to compiling a patient education leaflet that can give patients more information about how to make decisions regarding going abroad for treatment, what the associated risks are, and how to ensure that they are making the best decision.

We are equally in the views of those who have had stem cell therapy, as those who only read about it or have never heard of it before.

We would be most appreciative if you could fill in the below survey.

If you have any problems with the survey website, please email daniel.herridge06@imperial.ac.uk.

Survey link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PJTH6Q8

Many thanks,
Daniel Herridge

Hi Daniel,

hopefully you'll get some responses from my members.  Its a very emotive subject with much divided opinion.  As you are aware there are those 'claiming' to be able to cure spinal cord injuries already with stem cell therapy who in my opinion seek to profit from desperate people seeking a cure/outcome which is so far unproven.

I'm off to fill out survey myself now

Hi Andy,

Thanks for filling in the survey! Just to emphasise that we're still collecting responses to the questionnaire, and would like to add that if anybody who completes it knows other people with SCI, I'd be grateful if they could pass the link on.

Thanks

Daniel
