it seems that my bowel issues have been getting worse over the years. I used to have accidents about 3 times a year. 13 years later, i seem to have them at least 2 times a month. i also have a lot of gas too. i usually go a week to ten days before i evacuate my bowels. I have never been to regular and it seems no matter what i eat, i have flatulence. It makes it very difficult to have a social life if you know what i mean. any tips on what i might be able to do to get a hold of this
thanks

I really feel for you, its no fun having to be so aware of whats going on with your digestion and wind, especially in the company of others.  I have Transverse Myyelitis and have problems from the waist down, however, I have been saved any major bowel or bladder problems, however when I am tired it can take me ages to release water from my bladder.  When I first left hospital soon after my "episode" I had to rush to the loo really quickly as once I needed a wee i had to go straight away otherwise it would just flow wherever I was!  After 2 years this is no longer a problem.

Anyway, with regard to the wind, I wondered whether you have ever tried food combining? Thats not eating proteins and carbs at the same sitting. You can eat carbs at one meal with salad or veg and protein at the next with salad or veg for example, you just don't mix the two!  I found that when I tried this, I had no wind at all!  Also, chewing food until it is like a smooth paste helps digestion and again, reduced wind.  Just a couple of ideas that do work for me and maybe worth a try.

good luck! x
