Here's a link to a new simple Chat Room from Spinal Injury Network , PLEASE use this room for general chat / sci chat too

Everyone is welcome to use the Chat Room. A new window will open for the chat room when you enter a Nick Name and click on the 'Enter Chat' button on the page listed below. This room is provided 'as is' and will not always be moderated.  Please observe good 'netiquette' refrain from using foul language and respect the views of others.  Persistent breaking of these rules will lead to a room ban.  Have fun and enjoy your chat!

ANY PROBLEMS PLEASE LET ME KNOW

http://www.spinal-injury.net/spinal-cord-injury-chat-room.htm

It's browser based and no downloads required either, for those on work pc's etc its the same as having your browser open for the forums or viewing websites so please try it when you can

The Simple Chat Room doesn't use 'Picture' Smilies so you may need to refer to the retro text ones below  laugh

Text  Messaging - Smilies & Showing Emotions
A smiley is often used in text communications to convey an emotion with a message. Smilies are used in text messages in the same way voice changes and facial expressions are used in face-to-face or telephone conversation. For example, if you were joking with someone and send a text message of "Idiot!" the person receiving your message may think you are making a rude comment to them. If you send the same message with a "happy smiley" : ) following, the person would then understand you were "smiling" - or joking when you said that, and not misinterpret your intent. To create a smiley you use your standard keyboard characters and punctuation marks. When viewing text smilies, they are all sideways. Here are some basics to get you started in understanding what smilies are:

The close bracket represents a sideways smile   )
Add in the colon and you have sideways eyes   :
Put them together to make a smiley   : )
Use the dash  -   to add a nose   :-)
Change the colon to a semi-colon ; and you have a winking smiley ; ) with a nose  ;-)
Put a lower case o (halo) on top and now you have a winking, smiling angel 0;) with a nose 0;-)
Use the letter 8 in place of the colon for sunglasses  8-)

Common Smileys
: ) Standard smiley
:-) With nose
:-E Buck-tooth
>-) Evil grin
:-# With braces
:'-) Happy Crying
{:-) Toupee smiley
; ) Winking smiley

:-D Laughter
:*) Drunk smiley
:@ Exclamation "What???"
: ( Sad or frown smiley
:-( Sad with nose
:-< Super sad
:-@ Scream
:-0 Yell
O:-)  I'm an angel (boy)
O*-)  I'm an angel (girl)
|-O Yawn
%-( Confused
:-----) Long nose (Liar!)
@>--;-- Rose
