Ok so can anyone tell me why on earth do most disabled units in motels have single beds in them?

I mean...how can you possibly go away for a dirty weekend - and sleep in single beds!!! I dont get it....arent disabled people supposed to have any fun???

AND.....how come they make the bathroom doors too small to get a decent sized wheelchair through!

AND....how come you can never find a disabled unit to cater for a family??

When I was with Suzy the bed thing happened to us - we pushed them together.

I have to say, I have been very lucky here in the UK when I have gone away. Not many problems at all.

Hi Jilly,

I have found that in the UK most of the budget hotels actually have double beds.

In the UK to use Travel Inns, Novahotels or Travel Lodges as they all have double beds in the 'disabled rooms' they will also put a Z Bed down for a child as well at these places if you are a family. It is worth phoning and booking a few days in advance to ensure they have the Z beds.

Actually, the real reason there are single beds in disabled accommodation is because in 90% of cases the disabled person is a poor sleeper so at least that way the carer gets a good nights rest. I have always maintained that Suzy should have got a medal for sleeping with me! We solved the problem with a bed adjustable for me on one side and ordinary for her on the other.

Beeboi don't know where you stay but they must be some size of single beds! No way would 2 fit into mine!
