All the best for the charity ride Andy. I have just returned from a weekend away. What IS the part on the front of the wheelchair? I have tried to catch up with the newspaper articles but must be missing something. Can you enlighten me? Here's an interesting question? Whilst I was away, I was telling family about this site and about Henry. What does a tetra do to "clean up" after a dog when they cannot reach from chair to ground. This came about because where my Aunt lives it is an offence for a dog to poo on the groudn without the owner cleaning up. We came up with all sorts of suggestions but none of them were the right answer.

Gary, thats the PDQ Powertrike, it fits on any manual wheelchair. My one has the new NiMH batteries too, giving me a range of around 20 miles per charge and a top speed of 16mph on the flat .... fast as you are brave enough to go downhill as it freewheeels like a bike www.pdq.tv <---- check out more info here, Videos are good

Right! Now, what about clearing up after Henry. Can you put my AUnt out of her misery on that one? It has me intrigued. I have a theory on it but won't say until you tell me.

He's trained to 'go' only in a small concrete area of my garden, Every couple of days or so I use long handled dustpan and brush to clear up into a bin. All the dogs get oppurtunity to go before and after we leave house, on the lead he doesn't pee or poo anywhere when out. Only exeption is when he's free off lead in woods/fields etc when hes allowed to revert to full on dog mode

Yep! I win the bet.
When we were talking about this at the weekend I told my Aunt that was what would happen and she laughed at me. However, it is the same principle as my mate in USA who has the disabled assistance monkey. The monkey has actually been trained to use the loo!
Thanks for that Andy.

Ive heard of cats being trained to use the loo so why not a monkey! Might be a bit too difficult for a dog though!

I am told that $50,000 will completely train a monkey from birth. It is very interesting and if you Google "Hands On Boston" you will be able to read all about them. Peter is lively little chappie and so very clever. There is NOTHING he cannot do. He will try anything - indeed, he has even changed catheters.

Hi guys, remember me?! Sorry I have such big gaps between posts but I never get the time these days.
Nico got a PowerTrike about 2 months ago and it's BRILLIANT. It's opened up another chapter of freedom he never thought he'd get back. Ive been bike riding, long walks etc etc with Nico on the Trike and I've not seen him smile like that in a long time. I've lost 1.5 stone (!!!!!!!) but I did have a bit to go at so no complaints there ha ha.
xx Cat xx

Cat
Great to hear from you again. I wondered where you had gone. Glad Nico likes the trike. I think that is similar to what Andy has.
