I use conveens and leg bag drainage part time, as I managed to get some bladder control after injury.  I've just been trying the new 'Optima' conceen range from Coloplast and they are really good, the conveen is easy to put on  and the adhesive is very secure, for the first time I actually feel that the conveen has virtually no chance of coming off unless I remove it

great product   Smiley

I know I will sound stupid but how do u apply this product.  My husband has to be straight cath and he cannot do this yet so I do it every 4-6 hours and he leaks if I don't he is on some med's to help increase his bladder to hold more since he had a folley in so long and it has gotten better but wondering if there are other options when we are on the road... trying to get him out of the house but we had a bad experience with me trying to cath him while he was in his wheel chair, now he won't leave to go anywhere unless he knows he will only be gone for a short time

Hi Bradley007

Im not sure if Conveens are the same thing as I think they are, but here we have uridomes. They are just like a condom with a tube coming out of the end. The tube leads down to a bag that gets strapped to the leg. The inside of them has an adhesive so they dont slip off very easily.

As far as Ive seen they are very easy to use. Exactly the same as putting on a condom. All you have to do is empty the bag when its getting full.

Spot on Jilly.

They are the same.

That is the system I use and like Andy I have to virtually remove the device before it leaks.

Having said that, I did have a disaster the other day but that was due to lack of power in my gammy arm. Well, that is my excuse!

Andy, I shall be looking into Optima as I like to stay abreast of new devices.

Bradley, if your husband is using intermittent catheters for bladder control then conveens aren't a replacement but a way of collecting leakage between caths, quite often a more permenant answer is supra pubic catherterization, which is a tube going directly into the bladder that drains into a bag, but your doctoors should advise what is best in your case, these pages will help you

Gary the new optimas are really good and come in very discreet packaging too, i thought the adhesive on the old ones was good but these are amazing
