I noticed there are many people from the UK on this board, and professional care givers from all over the world. I am from the US, but I would like to study for my nursing career internationally...unfortunately, i haven't heard much in the area of studying nursing internationally unless i do all my school somewhere else and make it my permanent home...thats not a crazy idea for me, i love learning about new cultures, although it would be nice if i could transfer my certs back to the united states if i wanted to come home. ANY advice on this would be greatly appreciated, even if you only have a phone number...thanks everybody!

Hi Steven
I noticed you did not get any replies,   that is a very tricky one.  I would think you would do best to get qualifications at home first, and then try internationally.  Once you have some qualifications, they can then be used to perhaps fast track you to another country, but you would need to do further training there.

You could come and study in the UK. Uk qualifications are valid widely round the world so you can easily travel with them.

You might like a less litigious atmosphere the pervades the UK Health Service too as well as the universal care it provides.

Really, you need to check on where you might study to make sure any qualifications are valid in otherplaces but I know from people I know that UK quals are valued in the US.

UK medical qualifs are valid in UK but NOT the other way around.

I know an orthopaedic surgeon, well qualified and highly thought of in USA who thought he would come here to work and the Medical Council would not let him until he had obtained a certificate from them to allow him to practice.

So, best check things out well before you decide.
